'Develop the science within you' - Moy Tung Interview - Aug 2018 Wing Chun Illustrated

Grandmaster Anthony Moy Tung Dandridge was interviewed by Sifu Barry O'Brien for the August 2018 issue of Wing Chun Illustrated Magazine. In this interview Moy Tung talks about the hard work and philosophy of his sifu Moy Yat, what training was like in his early days in Chinatown, New York City under the great grandmaster, the nature of kung fu training and real-world fighting, Siu Nim Tao, the chain punch and ten important details, and more.Grandmaster Moy Tung began training under Grandmaster Moy Yat in 1980, and was a close follower of his teacher until Moy Yat passed in 2001. Grandmaster Moy Tung founded the Richmond Moy Yat Kung Fu Academy in 1986, and Moy Yat's last seminar was his Biu Je seminar in Richmond, Va. Today, there are more than 25 branches in Moy Tung's Kung Fu lineage alone, and many more in Moy Yat's lineage. This interview is a window into the mind and soul of one of Grandmaster Moy Yat's closest students, who was himself one of Yip Man's closest disciples. Grandmaster Moy Tung's students will recognize him and his voice in print. Martial artists everywhere will recognize essential truths in the things he says. There are many gems from Moy Tung in the article - here a few:

"The main thing that will save someone's life in a street fight is real martial arts training. The main thing that'll save someone's health in their normal life is real martial arts training; real kung fu.""It's about developing the system, the science within you. It doesn't make you a violent person, but you will master violence."“It doesn’t take a big person to knock someone out; it just takes someone being able to transfer mass to the striking surface.”"It's just amazing that kung fu even exists in the world." ... "So fill up yourself with a lot of kung fu from the inside."
